Art Feeds Joplin- Summer 2012

Art Feeds mobilizes creative healing in children. 1 year ago, a tornado destroyed much of Joplin, MO. Children are still recovering from the trauma & thrive in Art Feeds therapeutic art programs. Help Art Feeds give over 5,000 therapeutic art programs to coping children in Joplin.

The Specifics: What will the $5,000 fund?

$5,000 will fund 5,000 Art Feeds therapeutic art lessons. During the school year, Art Feeds reaches children weekly at their schools. Children thrive in Art Feeds programs & we are dedicated to reaching more children with our programs. We will reach children this summer by aligning with summer camps, schools, and weekend workshops.

Art Feeds has a very specific budget for each lesson. Each lesson only costs $1 per child. $5,000 will provide 5000 Art Feeds lessons to Joplin children.

Our team consists of 3 staff members, 10 interns, and 200 volunteers dedicated to reaching over 2500 children this summer in addition to over 1,000 students we will continue to reach weekly through summer school.

Art Feeds has done such a great job influencing and healing many children's lives! I am not from Joplin, but I attend Missouri Southern State University, and it's not hard to see all the wonderful things Art Feeds is doing here in Joplin! All the little kids love doing crafts, and Everytime I hang out around the community Art Feeds always has an activity going on! I am a very strong supporter of this organization!! I hope Art Feeds receives the $5,000 so they can keep healing many children and influencing lives! Art Feeds IS #1 :)

I have two grandsons who barely survived through the May 22, 2011 Joplin Tornado. These kids have emotional problems as a result. Art Feeds is a Art Therapy for all the kids like them. Thanks Art Feeds!

This would definitely help children in Joplin, recover from the tornado that destroyed so many homes and schools. A project like this encourages children to be creative and relax. Hopefully it receives the votes it deserves!

I remember donating a sizeable amount of money to the Children's Center. It was supposed to be earmarked for art supplies but they only used it to buy a token amount of supplies from Walmart and put the balance probably toward covering administrative expense. It was the last time I donated anything to them. Art Feeds on the other hand is dedicated to using art therapeutically.

As a school counselor at one of the schools this program services I can say Art Feeds does a wonderful job of helping inspire our students to believe in themselves and their abilities. This program has been such a blessing to Emerson Elementary!

Praying and voting for this to happen. I live in Joplin, and the work that Art Feeds does is amazing and encouraging to not only the young generation here, but to so many of us who are still recovering from a hard year after the storm.
