Overview of Idea
Nepal needs more original music. This summer, The Music Foundry wants to give 3 Nepali bands/songwriters the opportunity to create original songs and perform live twice a month. 3 independent bands + 3 summer months + 3 new songs per band per month = 9 original songs for The Epitome Project.
The Specifics: What will the $5,000 fund?
The Epitome Project is a new kind of music residency in Kathmandu. Three working bands/songwriters from different genres will perform paid gigs (twice a month) and produce at least 1 original Nepali song per month. This will result in a total of 18 live shows and the creation of 9 new songs, which will be recorded for a live album.
The majority of the funds will go toward paying the musicians and engineers to help sustain themselves through music, while also providing the people of Kathmandu with quality live shows. This will also give the musicians the focus and motivation to create new songs.
The rest of the funds will go toward promo materials, live recording, and admin costs.
The goal is to support our local musicians.

Awesome project! *votes* I'm always taken by the amazing music that comes out of Nepal and how quickly the scene's grown in the past few years. There's so much new talent to discover, and I'm sure there'll only be more (thanks in huge part to the sort of energy that you guys bring).

Guys just voted for you ... and i encourage for you to not only go for 3 songs, but go for 9 songs ... i mean, they say 'Shoot for the Star' and then, hopefully, you'll land of the MOON. So, we as audience want more creative numbers from you, and I know you know how to crank'em out .. they say, 'You take care of the quantity and God will take care of the quantity. :) Go for it ... !!!!!

This is freaking amazing. By three working band members, does it mean they're musical prodigies of Nepal or are they emerging to be one? But honestly, it doesn't matter..just a curiosity! This is a brilliant idea to support Nepali musicians who are ORIGINAL. Its a good start for the independent music scene in the country. Hoping that this will eventually give us some really fresh and good and creative Nepali music to listen to. Lets vote and spread the word everyone!
